OUR STORY

'Larach' in Gaelic means 'ruin' .This beautiful stone Byre sits on a private track off the main road and once housed the animals that belonged to Rose Cottage the adjacent croft cottage.
Lovingly renovated to provide cottage rental accommodation in 2017. Many years ago Ordie was a thriving village with a Smiddy, Bakery and Post office. Now it is a sleepy hamlet with a small scattering of cottages and a farm at the top of the hill. Ordie sits conveniently between Aboyne and Ballater just 2 miles North of Dinnet. Dinnet sits on the North Deeside Road which provides direct access to Aberdeen 40 miles away and Braemar 23 miles away by bus or car.

Ordie sits within the Cairngorm National Park and on the edge of an RSPB Nature Reserve. The Burn O' Vat which is a National Nature Reserve (NNR) has a lovely collection of paths and trails to suit all abilities.

Larach is characterised by it's odd shaped windows and doors. You can tell that originally it was built to house the animals not people! But this all adds to its wonderful charm. The thick stone walls and wood burning stoves provide a warm shelter from the Scottish weather. There is also gas fired central heating and hot water so you know you'll be warm and toasty. It has WIFI so also makes an ideal place for those that might need to get away but also work away from home.
